Data Security for Creators: Katliente's Switch to Kanary
Nov 25, 2025
Katliente runs the most engaged how-to community for female streamers on Twitch. Her streams feature co-op gameplay, chit-chat, and plenty of boba. She brings an infectious energy to her content, amassing a TikTok following of over 500K, securing multiple brand collabs, and growing a thriving Discord. When we met Kat at TwitchCon 10, fans were stopping her in the halls asking for pictures, hugs, and thanking her for everything she does.
But success on Twitch comes with a darker side. Katliente **is in the public eye and has been targeted because she speaks out about safety gaps on Twitch. She is at a high risk of doxxing, non-consensual sensitive deep fakes, trolling, and hate raids. Kat immediately connected with the Kanary team over the shared belief that security and safety information should be accessible.

Problem: Sexually explicit deepfakes risking creators’ brand safety
Once Kat’s stream started taking off, she had an unnerving experience that made her reassess her business and her personal safety as a public-facing creator. A random chatter dropped a link to a reddit page during her livestream. A few community members quickly warned Kat not to click the link, but she clicked it anyway. On the subreddit, she was shocked to see a deepfaked image of her fully naked. Shaken up by the invasion of her privacy and chat, she closed the stream and banned the trolls. Reddit wouldn’t do anything to remove the post, but after hundreds of requests from her community members, they finally acted and removed the posts.
Beyond the targeted attack, Kat feels like there’s another big problem, many streamers are naive. “So many people think that they will never get a stalker, no one’s going to stalk me…I’m not worth stalking, but actually there’s a high risk and there’s a lot of tactical physical safety advice out there like closing your window shades during your stream,” Kat said. Alongside Twitch’s moderation tools, community tools like sery_bot/CommanderRoot, and Kanary’s integration for auto-blocking terms in your chat, creators can shut down many risks in less than 5 minutes.
Creators live in a strange grey area: they’re entertainers, CEOs, and public figures with vulnerabilities; an intersection that calls for unique security solutions. They don’t have HR or corporate security teams backing them up. They may choose to hire mods, or DIY modding to save on cost, but often times considering data security is a reaction to an incident or a breach.

Solution: Fast, friendly, & private protection in collaboration with managers
Team Kanary first contacted Kat through her management company, Nani Talent. Her manager Tani shared that Kat was using Experian to monitor for data leaks but would love a more powerful and transparent solution. “She's always looking for better safety and convenient or easy options to share with the community,” Tani Said. Kat signed up for Kanary and was happy with the simplicity of onboarding, transparency of the live scan, and thoroughness when new risks were found that Experian missed.

A couple weeks later, Tani followed up with us reporting: “Kat is really fond of Kanary and liking it so far. In fact, she likes it more than her current subscription, so that's great news,” specifically highlighting her appreciation for Kanary’s friendly and responsive team. If an removal request or opt-out was tricky or stubborn, it was easy to escalate to Kanary’s team of privacy experts.
Tani and Kat also loved that Kanary integrates right with Twitch. It can be hard to stay on top of the best tips for securing your business as a creator. They were happy to fix her settings with a tap of a button, and get back to giving away free boba and stickers.
Impact: A cleaner digital footprint and fewer doxxing threats
After just 10 minutes of using Kanary, Kat had cleaned up 2 leaks that her previous service had missed. With Kanary, she not only saves money, but she has a faster, more comprehensive, and private experience protecting her info.
“I love that I can see it working in real time,” Kat said. With Kanary, Kat can quickly tackle risks with one tap, and also learn more about what’s out there about her. Not only is Kat’s profile less doxxable, she’s more aware of possible ways a troll might get under her skin. As Kat’s community continues to grow, team Kanary is looking forward to supporting the safety and security her, her community, and her management team.
