X (Twitter) Monitoring for Doxxing & Impersonation Now Available to Kanary Members
Kanary's coverage now includes X, giving Advanced tier members a direct line of defense on one of the internet's most active and unpredictable platforms. Kanary directly scans posts, replies and threads to surfaces risks that traditional search results miss. This ability to go beyond what gets indexed by Google allows users to better protect against doxxing, personal data leaks and impersonation, and take mitigation actions.

What Does Kanary Monitor on X?
Kanary's X monitoring covers two categories of exposure:
Public Posts Containing Your Personal Information
We scan posts, including replies, quote posts, and threads, for your name, address, username, and other personally identifiable information. We flag content that looks like doxxing, harassment, impersonation attempts, or active threats. We also surface posts that aren't outright malicious but contain information that could be weaponized or lead to data leaks.
Impersonation Profiles
Fake accounts using your name or likeness are one of the most common, and most underreported, forms of online harassment. They're easy to miss and frustratingly difficult to get removed without knowing the right steps. Kanary now flags profiles that appear to be matching or impersonating your identity, so you have more control over your online reputation.

How Does Monitoring X for doxxing, personal data leaks, and impersonation Work?
A monthly X scan runs automatically for all Advanced members. When Kanary finds something:
Results appear in the Actions section of your dashboard for your review
You confirm what you'd like removed: we won't touch anything that doesn't belong on the list (no good tweets about you will be harmed in this process)
Detailed screenshots and links to flagged content are available on your results page, accessible by clicking through from the X section of your dashboard or by filtering results by X as a source
You stay in the loop through your monthly email progress reports, just like with your other Kanary scans
If you want more frequent coverage, you can also choose to scan weekly or daily, which is helpful during periods when you know your exposure risk is elevated.
Why Does Monitoring X for Personal Data Exposures Matter?
Social media platforms have become the starting point for many of the most serious online threats people face today. Bad actors use them to map out personal details, build impersonation profiles, and launch targeted campaigns. AI tools are also making it faster and easier for bad actors to execute these attacks.
We're not just talking about public figures. Anyone whose personal information is visible online can become a target, and X is one of the places attackers look first. According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, the human element was involved in 68% of all data breaches.
Kanary sees what attackers see, and helps you do something about it.
